Honduras Has a New Nurse. Your Generosity Put Her There.

Suyapa Cordova always knew she wanted to serve others. What she didn’t know was how she would get there.

As a former Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) student, Suyapa faced the barriers that stop so many gifted young women before they ever get started — financial pressure, family responsibility, and a system that doesn’t always make room for dreamers. She is a mother to a young son, Sebastian, and every step forward required sacrifice, organization, and an unwavering belief that it was worth it.

One World Surgery’s scholarship program was built precisely for this moment. The program provides monthly stipends to cover academic and living expenses. OWS’s scholarship made the difference between a dream deferred and a dream realized.

On March 28, 2026, Suyapa Cordova graduated with her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is now a Registered Nurse, and she is staying in Honduras to serve the very communities that shaped her.

“This achievement also belongs to you,” she told her OWS supporters. “Through your generosity, you helped change the course of my education and my future.”

That is what education does. It doesn’t just open doors — it builds them where none existed before. Suyapa is proof that when a community invests in one person, that person turns around and invests in everyone.
